SocialRank is a simple tool that help brands and individuals find out more information about the people that follow them on social networks, starting with Twitter. In January 2012, Alex Taub and Michael Schonfeld built a small tool called MVF, which stood for Most Valuable Follower, which revealed your most valuable Twitter followers. The tool went viral with thousands of people using it, ranging from the biggest brands to B-list celebrities.
While the two hackers decided to shut it down and join payments startup Dwolla, they say that every few months a different brand would reach out to find out if Alex and Michael could bring MVF back. After enough interest, they decided to quit their jobs and work on it full time. SocialRank launched at the end of February 2014 and already has a few thousand brands using it.
