What’s your historical Los Angeles and New York connection?

I grew up in NYC. I absolutely hate winter there but love summer. I decided to try spending a few months in LA and fell in love. At this point I am so in love with both cities I can’t imagine giving up either, so I am now doing winter in LA/summer in NYC.

Describe your experience in LA and your experience in NYC
I really love both cities. Both are high energy, creative, fun, filled with things to do and I am always meeting new and interesting people who are going for their dreams in both. To compare the two – In NYC I would say my favorite things are the fast pace, the 24 hour access and the subway. In LA – the warm weather, getting to see the Ocean everyday, and I live in Santa Monica so I can still walk or take the bus most places.

What was the biggest challenge of moving from NYC to LA?
In LA – I hate that I have to drive if I leave my area – the bus takes forever and there is no good subway! Also I can’t get used to things not being open 24 hours in NYC – I always end up extending my stay into October and then remember just how much I hate being cold.

Favorite LA secret spot
Not sure how secret it is but its fairly new – I am obsessed with Gunpowder cafe. It is a coffee shop / group work space. I have met really amazing people there. Secret spot – this part of the beach I can bike up to at the end of the bike path along PCH. Its pretty empty and my dog can run all around the beach. Really nice when I need to take a break from work.

Favorite NYC secret spot
I love cafe ange noir and the Loom both in Bushwick. Also my rooftop – also in Bushwick. You get a whole view of the city.

What would you be doing if you weren’t working on what you are?
I always want to do so many things – I would either be a fashion designer, start an animal rescue, or be a travel writer.

Inflight Entertainment: tell us what song/album, TV show, podcast, or web videos you’ve been watching lately.
I know its cliche but I love Girls! On my last flight between NYC – LA I discovered my new favorite indie movie Delusions of Guinevere. Also some bands I have been downloading – Terraplane Sun and White Arrows. Oh and a new book I love – You’re Fine by Gina Tron.
