Runa is both a company making a delicious beverage and a social enterprise that partners with indigenous farmers in Ecuador who have grown Guayusa (a tea-like superleaf from the Amazon) for thousands of years in traditional “forest gardens”. Guayusa powers all of Runa’s beverages while driving sustainable livelihoods and conservation in Ecuador through the guayusa value chain: Runa buys directly from farmers while paying a premium on every pound for community projects, plants thousands of trees to create sustainable agricultural systems, and supports cooperatives and Equity through their practices as well as the Runa Foundation.
Guayusa has as much caffeine as coffee or an energy drink, but also twice the antioxidants of green tea, which combine to give it the smooth energy that leaves you feeling great all day. All of Runa’s products are all-natural, Fair Trade, GMO-Free, and USDA organic, and sold in 7,500 stores nationwide including Whole Foods, Sprouts, Safeway, Vitamin Shoppe, GNC, and local and regional stores throughout the country.
