What’s your historical San Francisco and New York connection?
I’ve got one hell of a story:
•NYC Feb 2011- October 2012
•SF Nov 2012-May 2013
•NYC June 2013 – present
From March 2012 – October 2012, I was fully bicoastal: two apartments, switching cities every other week. Many people thought I was bicoastal before that though, so I must have traveled enough.
Describe your experiences in SF and NYC.
I wrote an article once about the trade-offs and funding styles [for startups]. It turns out, I like NYC more: more culture, more Jews (I’m Jewish) more to do, and it’s easier to get around with public transportation.
What was the biggest challenge of moving from SF to NYC?
Getting an apartment. Its a very tough city to find the right neighborhood and fit and as an entrepreneur, many landlords are skeptical to rent to you.
How can NYC and SF best engage with each other?
I have no idea. For now, I just seem to fly back and forth.
Favorite SF secret spot?
Hahaha, I love this question! My yacht club (St. Francis Yacht Club) or Mas Sake on Lombard. They have sushi and DJ Mei Lwun, one of the best DJs ever, plays there a lot.
Favorite NYC secret spot?
I call it my “hiding” spot: Riposo 46 in Hells Kitchen. Great food and great location for taking a long walk, and I never have to worry about running into someone from tech there. Generally, if I want to hide I go northwest of Flatiron; for some reason, that seems to be the opposite of where startup people hang out.

If you were not at ConsumerBell, what would you be doing?
I actually think about this all the time. I figure if there was something else in the world I would rather be doing, then I should do it now: life is too short. If I wasn’t busy with ConsumerBell, I would be at grad school – law school or getting an MBA seems fascinating to me. Ideally, though, if I could go back in time, I would have dedicated more time playing tennis and see how far I could have taken it.

Million Dollar Listing on Hulu is a great show, I’ve also been rocking out lately to this mix a friend made – I can listen to it on repeat.
